Description of Widow’s Lament

A dark night in an 18th century New England fishing village. A woman seen from behind stands in a room gazing forlornly out of a window into the night. The chair she has been sitting in for hours sits empty behind her. A night table stands beneath the window. The wood paneled wall seen in the background lends to the ambiance. The curtains are parted wide and gathered in each hand, her long hair flows down and lies on the window cil beside her. She has been waiting, watching, hoping for her sea captain husband to return from sea. Is this the night he will appear? Or was it to have been that stormy night six months ago.
